Crime Reduction: Building Safer Communities Across the Pacific Northwest
At Impact 907, we are committed to fostering safe, resilient communities throughout the northwestern United States. Understanding the unique challenges that each state faces, we collaborate with local stakeholders to implement evidence-based strategies aimed at reducing crime and enhancing public safety.

Regional Crime Trends
Alaska: In 2023, Alaska reported a violent crime rate of 1,975.2 per 100,000 residents, significantly higher than the national average. Aggravated assaults comprised 71.9% of these violent crimes, indicating a pressing need for targeted interventions.
Washington: Washington experienced a 5.5% decrease in violent crimes and an 11.9% decrease in property crimes in 2023. However, the state saw a 5.4% increase in vehicle thefts from 2022 to 2023, with a staggering 112% rise since 2019.

Oregon: Between 2019 and 2023, Oregon witnessed a 10% increase in violent crime, contrasting with a 4% national decline. Notably, the state's murder rate surged by 53%, and aggravated assaults rose by 23%.

Idaho: Idaho maintains one of the lowest property crime rates in the nation, at 926.9 per 100,000 residents. However, certain counties, such as Shoshone County, experienced a nearly 19% increase in crime in 2023, highlighting the need for localized crime prevention strategies.

Our Strategic Initiatives
To address these challenges, Impact 907 is implementing the following strategies:

-
Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities to develop and sustain projects that address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, lack of education or community resources, and unemployment.
-
Youth Programs: Implementing after-school and mentorship programs aimed at providing positive outlets for youth, thereby reducing juvenile delinquency.
-
Support Services: Offering resources for individuals affected by crime, including counseling, job training, and housing assistance, to facilitate rehabilitation and reintegration.
-
Policy Advocacy: Working with local and regional leaders to promote solutions that support crime prevention, education, and community engagement efforts.
A Vision for Safer Communities
At Impact 907, we believe that sustainable crime reduction is achieved through a holistic approach that addresses both prevention and intervention. By partnering with at-risk communities, supporting at-risk individuals, and advocating for resource access, we strive to create a safer and more connected Pacific Northwest for all residents.
A Safer Future Starts with Community
At Impact 907, we know that real safety is rooted in connection, opportunity, and trust. Reducing crime isn't just about reacting - it's about investing in people, places, and possibilities before harm occurs. Across Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, we are working hand-in-hand with communities to break cycles of violence, rebuild trust, and create spaces where everyone can feel secure and supported. Whether it's through youth mentorship or expanding access to critical resources, our vision is clear: every community deserves the chance to thrive in safety. Together, we can reimagine public safety as prevention, healing, and building community strength.
