Mental Wellness: Building Resilient Communities Across the Pacific Northwest
At Impact 907, we recognize that mental wellbeing is a cornerstone of individual success and community strength. One of our priorities is to address challenges facing residents of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho by fostering supportive environments, and promoting improved resource access.

Addressing Regional Challenges
Alaska: Alaska experiences some of the highest rates of youth and young adult suicide in the nation. In 2021, suicidal thoughts accounted for a quarter of all discharge diagnoses for child and adolescent emergency department treatment episodes within the state, marking a 6% increase from the previous year.

Washington: In Washington, 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness each year, with 300,000 adults living with a serious mental illness. Among youth aged 12–17, 82,000 have depression, and 52% of them did not receive any care in the last year.

Oregon: Oregon's youth suicide rate was 14.2 per 100,000 in 2022, compared to the national rate of 10 per 100,000. Additionally, 15% of Oregon youth have serious thoughts of suicide, with 4.5% having attempted suicide.

Idaho: In Idaho, 311,000 adults have a mental health condition, and 26,000 youth aged 12–17 have depression. The state faces significant challenges in providing adequate mental health services, with 10.5% of residents uninsured.

To address these challenges, Impact 907 is implementing the following strategies:
