YOUTH DEVELOPMENT & MENTORSHIP
At Impact 907, we recognize that youth development and mentorship are critical to the future success of our communities across the Pacific Northwest. Our commitment is to collaborate with local organizations, educators, and community members to create and enhance programs that provide young people with the skills, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Regional Challenges in Youth Development

Alaska: Alaska ranks 41st nationally in child well-being, with significant challenges in education and economic security. The Alaska Youth Risk Behavior Survey indicates that many teens experience poor mental health, with a notable percentage reporting feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

Washington: In Washington State, for every student in an afterschool program, five are waiting to get in, and nearly 50% of parents report no available after school programs in their community, highlighting significant gaps in youth development services.

Oregon: Oregon faces challenges with youth engagement and retention. Efforts are underway to align systems and invest in communities to ensure equitable and effective services for youth ages 6 through 24, focusing on educational and career success, and preventing youth crime and violence.

Idaho: Idaho's youth face significant challenges. Approximately 13.3% of children live below the poverty line, and 33% of Boise teens report struggling with depression. The state also ranks sixth in the nation for suicide rates, with 22.2 deaths per 100,000 people.

Our Strategic Initiatives
To address these challenges, Impact 907 supports regional and community projects and initiatives engaging in:
-
Mentorship Programs: Connecting youth with positive role models to build confidence, resilience, and life skills.
-
Educational Support: Providing resources and tutoring to help students succeed academically and prepare for higher education or vocational training.
-
Mental Health Services: Offering counseling and support groups to address the emotional and psychological needs of young people.
-
Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organizations to create safe spaces and activities that promote healthy development and prevent delinquency.
