Housing Creation: Building Foundations for Thriving Communities
At Impact 907, we believe that safe and affordable housing is a cornerstone of healthy communities. Our mission is to address the housing challenges facing the Pacific Northwest by collaborating with local partners, advocating for improved policies, and implementing innovative solutions that meet the diverse needs of our region.

Understanding Regional Housing Challenges
Alaska: Alaska faces a significant shortage of affordable housing, particularly for extremely low-income households. Many residents are severely cost-burdened, spending more than half of their income on housing. The state's aging housing stock and high construction costs exacerbate the issue, leading to overcrowded and energy-inefficient homes.

Washington: Washington is experiencing a housing affordability crisis, with home prices increasing over 800% in the past 40 years. Approximately 73% of households cannot afford a median-priced home, and the state needs to add over one million new homes by 2044 to meet demand. Legislative efforts are underway to streamline housing development and increase density near transit hubs.

Oregon: Oregon's Housing Needs Analysis indicates a pressing need for increased housing production, especially for low-income households. The state has implemented new land use planning strategies to facilitate housing development and address affordability challenges.

Idaho: Idaho's housing market has seen significant price increases, with the median home price reaching approximately $481,500 in 2024. The state also faces a shortage of affordable rental homes, impacting low-income families and contributing to a rise in homelessness throughout the region.

Our Strategic Initiatives
To combat these challenges, Impact 907 is implementing the following strategies:

-
Affordable Housing Development: Partnering with local governments and businesses to increase the supply of affordable housing units through new construction and rehabilitation projects.
-
Policy Advocacy: Engaging in policy discussions to promote zoning reforms, funding allocations, and regulatory changes that support equitable housing development.
-
Community Engagement: Collaborating with community members to identify housing needs, gather input on development projects, and ensure that solutions are culturally responsive and community-driven.
-
Supportive Services Integration: Incorporating supportive services into housing developments to assist residents with employment, education, and health care access, fostering long-term stability.
